Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, aspirant for the post of National President of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), has said she joined the race to give the Association a voice among other women groups in the country.
She stated this while speaking to Peoples Daily Correspondent in Kaduna yesterday.
According to her, the founding criteria of NAWOJ is to give voice to the women and children. Unfortunately, in the last decades, the association has deviated from this, so there is a need to reposition NAWOJ.
Hajiya Ibrahim who hails from Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, North-East, Nigeria said it is disheartening that young women are shying away from the profession.
Speaking on her agenda for the association, she said training and retraining of women Journalists will be her key point as she is already working with development partners in that regards.
She vowed to get a permanent secretariat for NAWOJ in Abuja, and as well promised a new positive agenda for the association.
The aspiring National officer of t NAWOJ stated her conviction to join the race is answering the Clarion call by her teeming supporters.
