The Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare has charged Nigerian Youths to begin the journey of assuming the country’s leadership role now.
The Minister made this assertion at the commencement of the 29-day Ambasador Leadership program for youth in Abuja on Monday, November 16th 2020.
According to him, “The Investments in our youth must begin today. They are leaders in the making. To be leaders today, we must provide them the knowledge and skills to be leaders today. The journey to good leadership begins with proper education.
The Minister commended Prof Anya O. Anya, Chairman, NPL Governing Board for organizing the Ambassador Leadership Programme with the theme; “Youth Leadership with a difference” at a time when the youth are taking up a noble role.
The Ambassador Leadership Programme is meant to raise and groom a new generation of exceptional leaders, from the six geopolitical zones.
The Minister expressed delight in the opportunity provided by the program to groom and mentor young leaders.
“Good leaders can only be raised with the right education. The youth are the “Bridge” generation linking the old generation to those coming behind them”.
Mr. Dare encouraged all participants to read the history of past leaders who fought for what the nation enjoys today. He reiterated that the the programme should be organised annually with the Ministry lending full support.
He called on CLTC to avail their E-learning platform to NPL for better youth engagement.
The Minister further avered that the youth are about the numbers and whatever initiative aimed at benefiting them, the country must be in a hurry to rachet up the number.
He disclosed that the Ministry is set to take 500,000 youth through digital training for the next 2 years, just as the establishment of the 75bn Nigerian Youth Investment fund would support youth entrepreneurs with required trainings.
The Ambassador Leadership training will last for 4 weeks and participants will be certified at end of their training.
