Covid-19: 29 NYSC members tested positive in Jigawa Orientation camp

No fewer than 29 National youth service Corp posted to Jigawa have tested positive of Covid-19 at the camp entry screening point of Yakubu Gawon Nysc orientation camp Dutse.
The permanent secretary ministry of health Dr. Salisu Mu’azu confirmed this, in a press briefing held at new secretariat Dutse the state capital.
He explained that, 15 out of 150 batch ‘b’ stream 2 National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members posted to Jigawa have already tested positive of the covid-19 virus after being subjected to the compulsory test on entry into the camp.
Also, this is in addition to earlier case of 14 Corp members that were reported to have contacted the virus while 8 of the patients have been in one of the isolation centres after they were tested from the last NYSC batch.
The permanent secretary said that the state governor has directed for the immediate reactivation of all the 3 isolation centres to begin the preparation to receive patients.
He said there is every likelihood that more cases could be recorded as the NYSC members continue to arrive at the camp.
He said already efforts are being made to trace those persons that came in contact with the victims with a view to isolate them in accordance with the covid-19 protocol.
It would be recalled that the state had not recorded any new cases of the covid-19 since September this year, adding that the government may impose a lockdown if the people continue to flaunt the basic covid-19 protocol.
