Labour Party loses National Chairman, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam

The national chairman of Labour Party (LP), Abdulkadir abdulsalam, has passed on in Abuja at the early hours yesterday, reportedly after early morning prayers.
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has also expressed shock over the news of his demise.
This was contained in a statement titled, “CUPP Mourns Labour Party National Chairman”, signed by the Coalition’s Co-Spokesperson, Mark Adebayo.
The statement read, “We received the sudden death of Alhaji A. A. Salam with utter shock and total disbelief. A. A. Salam was a major pillar and voice who formed the CUPP and remained committed to its ideals until he breathed his last.
“A very accommodating, intelligent, experienced, generous and patriotic leader, A. A. Salam was a true democrat and a fighter for justice. He was a father to all and always focused on anything he believed was right and just.
“He was always available whenever his leadership and experience were needed and never shirked any responsibility he was assigned to.
“Alhaji Salam was a man with a good spirit, caring, loving and always positive. His doors were always open to all irrespective of different political persuasions. We have lost a giant in the political space of Nigeria.”
Also, in a tribute to the late Labour Party chairman by former chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Peter Ameh, which is titled ‘Tribute to my Friend, colleague and brother’, he said “We fought side by side, so I can testify of your undying love and faith in our country, *o great A.A Salam.*
“I know first-hand of your fiery bravery and valour. You never shied away from confronting evil and injustice. You took the battle to villains and pretenders. You loved all but hated injustice.
“You served God and loved humanity with all your heart. You knew the Lord and appreciated His creatures whether they are Muslims, Christians or of other Faith’s.
“You were knowledgeable, exposed, experienced, widely travelled and tolerant.
You were comfortable with all well meaning people whether they be Muslims, Christians, young or old
You were a great teacher, mentor and leader.
“You inspired many, only bigots and those blindfolded with clannishness and nepotism failed to learn from you
You were a leading light, always seeking to promote others
You worked hard, played hard, fought hard, loved deep ,felt deep, meant well, mixed well.
“You were a great icon. We felt your love, passion and commitment, drank from it, me, most of all
Thanks for the love we shared. Thanks for trusting me . Thanks for all you were to me.”
