Stop sending thugs after me – Ebonyi PDP chairman tells Gov Umahi

Date:

By Christiana Ekpa

The caretaker chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ebonyi State chapter, Fred Udogu, on Monday, alleged that the State Governor, David Umahi is sending thugs after his life.
Udogu made this known while speaking with some journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
He said: “For the governor, it means that everybody must join him to APC and if you don’t join him, you are his enemy. And that is his own position. Political parties are like organizations were anybody has his/her own mind to join or not.
“I have been a member of PDP before Umahi came into politics and he cannot decide for me a party to join. The problem is that, if he had left PDP quietly, nobody would have had issues with him. But he left PDP and still fighting us and initiated a fight in PDP which is not fair.
“We are not in the court because of the PDP Secretariat. The Secretariat belongs to PDP whether anybody likes it or not. It was built under Dave as the chairman of PDP by the former governor His Excellency Chief Martin Elechi.
“Nobody is dragging the Secretariat, it just that they are lacking on what to hook on. They have no programs and that’s why they are looking for programs. If they have programs, they shouldn’t be fighting an imagery war.
“I was one of the instruments which God used to install Dave Umahi as the governor, he can’t say, he doesn’t know. He knows what I did. I nominated him to Elechi as the caretaker Chairman. I played so many other roles in which God can bear me witness on what happened.
“I have always said it that if what Umahi did to me is good to God, I accept.
“He has left PDP and I was nominated to head the Party. I didn’t fight him and I had no intention to fight him. He is busy sending to me a WhatsApp messages I sent to him years back, when we were more friendly to people and to me, reminding me of the past. But did I gain anything from him as a governor? no. That’s why I’m not complaining.
“He directed that I should return the Tucson vehicle that was given to me, I sent the vehicle back to him. That was the last thing of him, i had. And I’m happy that I sent the vehicle back to him. I don’t have anything from Dave in my house today. By Gods Grace, I’m happy about it.
“For him to have ordered that i should return that vehicle, means that he doesn’t know or remember the past. He forgot so easily. Car is nothing to me for the role I played for him to become Chairman, deputy governor and now governor.
In a swift reaction, the Governor who spoke through his special assistant on Media, Francis Nwaza denied the said threat on the PDP caretaker chairman, Chief Fred Udogu, and called on the citizens of the State to disregard it.
“You see these things people do this days, trying to drag the name of a popular person into their misfortune is bad. People do politics over everything. If you are known for unholy character, must you drag the name of a governor to take cover.
“He said that the governor is sending thugs, how will people be making allegations without evidence? What is the proof that the governor sent somebody? The governor is very busy with the development of the state and as I speak with you now, the governor was on inspection today.

READ MORE  Anambra election: Radio Biafra ask IPOB to vote, sacks ex spokesman, Emma PowerfulBy Ese Awhotu with agency report Radio Biafra has directed members of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB to vote in the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 18. This is according to a broadcast by the Radio Biafra from 6am to 7am yesterday on 7240 KHZ, 41 meter-band, short wave, monitored in Abuja. Radio Biafra announced the dismissal of Comrade Emma Powerful as the spokesman of IPOB, alleging that he was one of the custodians of Mazi Kanu’s ill-gotten wealth as he allegedly joined him in misappropriating IPOB money. Emma Powerful was also accused of refusing to speak up for the release of those who were detained with Nnamdi Kanu and who are still in detention though Kanus has been released; Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are still in prison. According to the announcement, “These are our brothers who were arrested at the same time with Kanu and they should not be forgotten. We hereby demand their release. Neither Emma Powerful nor Kanu, since his release, has spoken about them or appealed for the release of these our freedom fighters”, said the announcement. Radio Biafra also announced that “IPOB has never been a violent organization as the international community will never support any violent organization in its bid to actualize its dreams, no matter how compelling its case could be. “Once an organization begins to embrace violence, it will be labeled a terrorist organization. The era of threats, hate speeches, incitements, violence and intimidation, abuse and hooliganism are gone with the past and corrupt leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu.” Reports said that Radio Biafra directed all IPOB members world-wide to listen to tune in every morning on “7240 KHZ, 41 meter-band, short wave and at 9 PM on 11530 KHZ on 25 meter band. They can also listen to Radio Biafra on tunein.com, streamer.com, radio garden and other similar services that are available, on smartphones and computers, the announcement said. The broadcast directed IPOB members to go and participate in Anambra election and cast their vote for any candidate of their choice, saying “It’s your civic responsibilities to exercise your franchise, and IPOB has no candidate in the election. “Kanu and his cohorts including Uche Mefor and Emma Powerful cannot continue to feed fat on the blood of young innocent men in a misdirected and infantile adventure. We have ideological clarity and methodology in our struggle. Radio Biafra is back and alive and as we say failure to heed to IPOB directives has its consequences and Comrade Emma Powerful should know this. A word is enough for the wise.” So far, the radio has remained on air and has been dishing out its messages in both English and Igbo twice daily since Sunday November 12. So far too, the Directorship of the Radio Biafra and the new IPOB leadership appears not to have been challenged at all; instead, the new IPOB leader, Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili seems to be consolidating his hold on IPOB.
