From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

Kano State Government has warned that it will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law to bear on any person or organisation caught breaching public health regulations and protocols with regards to the control of the pandemic in the state.
Recall that, the state government, through Deputy Coordinator, Technical Response, Dr Sabitu Shuaibu Shanono in a presentation of the state’s COVID-19 Epidemiology at a press briefing by the Kano State Taskforce on COVID-19, held at the government house on Wednesday, disclosed that the state has recorded 17 deaths and 827 cases of the infection from November, 2020 to January 2021.
However, the state’s Commissioner of Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba stated that security agents have been mandated to ensure full complience of the protocols without exception.
In a statement yesterday, Garba warned that whoever is found wanting with grads to flaunting COVID-19 and other health protocols in the state would be dealt with.
He therefore announced that the ban on social gatherings had been extended to clubs, concerts, street parties, among others in the state.
He stated that “all the restrictions have to be enforced because safety of our people and their welfare are priorities that cannot be toyed with.”
Garba said government would continue to engage all the stakeholders to sensitise the populace on the need to maintain social distancing and collective effort to combat this pandemic.
