Gombe state governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has flagged off livestock annual vaccination campaign with a view to enhance the standard of agricultural sector.
Performing the function on Tuesday at Gadam community in Kwami local government area of Gombe state, governor Yahaya said the annual vaccination campaign of the livestock came at the right time when people needed it the most.
He said the vaccination will go along way, and assured that his administration will not relent to do more in the area of agricultural sector in the state.
While emphasizing the needful, the governor called on Miyiti Allah Cattle Breeders Association and other corporate bodies to support veterinary doctors to succeed in their programmes.
He also called on state governors to key into the excise to ensure that livestock vaccination campaign is launched in their various states.
Speaking earlier, Gombe state director of federal ministry of agriculture and rural development Dr. Musa Mohammed Inuwa appealed to the state government to do as much as possible to recruit more veterinary doctors which according to him out of 11 local government areas the state have only 8 qualified veterinary doctors.
He said it is alarming for 8 veterinary doctors to handled over one million livestock comprising of cattle, sheep and goats in the state.
Dr.Inuwa appreciated the government for providing a land of 140,000 hectares at Wawa-zenge for livestock reserve.
