The Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Musa Amadu, yesterday said that it would organize more high level friendly matches for the Flying Eagles.
Amadu disclosed the planned friendly matches in a statement by the team’s Media Officer, SammAudu, issued in Abuja.
The statement quoted him as saying the friendlies would be organised to prepare the team for its 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier against either Kenya or Tanzania.
Kenya and Tanzania played a 0-0 draw in the first leg with the return leg coming up in Tanzania in a fortnight.
“We plan to get more test matches for the Flying Eagles before their African Youth Championship qualifier early next month.
“Like always, we want all our teams to be best prepared for challenges and that is why all the national teams have been engaged in one friendly or the other lately,“ it siad.
The Flying Eagles were forced to a 2-2 draw in their first leg friendly match with Morocco’s U-20 national team in Rabat on Wednesday.
It was again held to a 1-1 draw in the second leg two days later.
Both countries’ U-20 teams are preparing for their matches in the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifiers slated early in May.
The Flying Eagles are expected to resume training in Abuja today after the rewarding trip to Morocco.
The training camp is expected to be lively with the arrival of some of the foreign-based players that had been called up.
Isaac Success and Dele Alampasu have yet to join the rest of the squad.
