The Borno Cassava Farmers’ Cooperative Union, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the National Agricultural Cooperative Organisation (NACO) for the sales of tricycles to its members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the union’s Chairman, Alhaji Al Amin Umara signed on behalf of the union, while NACO Borno Zonal Director, Malam Baba Kagu signed on behalf of the organisation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Umara said that farmers would pay instalmentally, adding that the objective was to make it easier for farmers to owned tricycles for evacuation of farm produce.

“A tricycle will be sold at a cost of N400,000 to farmers under the agreement.

“The money will be paid in two years after an initial payment of 10 per cent of the total cost by the beneficiaries,” Umara said.

He said that about 300 tricycles were expected to be sold to the farmers under the agreement.

Kagu said that the MoU was part of the organisation’s efforts towards assisting farmers in the state.

He restated the commitment of the organisation to support any programme that would boost food production. (NAN)
