Konshisha: Benue Security Council recovers 8 AK47 guns

The Benue State Government Security Council has recovered eight AK 47 guns stolen  from Soldiers by militia in Konshisha Local Government of the State and handed them to the military.

Recall that 11 officers and a captain on routine patrol were recently ambushed by Bonta Tiv gang and brutally murdered and had their bodies burnt beyond recognition.

The soldiers were buried last week at the Military Cemetery in Makurdi amid tears.

Governor Samuel Ortom had during the burial promised to ensure quick recovery of the stolen arms.

He disclosed to newsmen after an expanded security council meeting held at Government House, Makurdi yesterday that out of the 12 AK47 that were taken by the bandits, 8 have been recovered including a machine gun, noting that the military had earlier recovered one.

The Governor also, said 4 persons including the Deputy Chairman of Konshisha Sam Karver, a councillor, a kindred head and district head have been handed over to security agencies for further interrogation.

He intimated that the Security Council resolved that he should lead a delegation to President Muhammadu Buhari to condole with him over the killing of soldiers.

Ortom said he will liaise with his Exexutive council on what would be appropriate to be given to families of the deceased soldiers to assuage their pains.

On the humanitarian crisis in the area, he promised government will provide relief to displaced persons.
