Autonomy: Kebbi assures JUSUN of support

Kebbi State Government has assured the state chapter of striking Judiciary Staff Union (JUSUN) and theNigeria Bar Association (NBA) that the State Government will look into their requests for speedy implementation of autonomy for the judiciary and the legislature.
Receiving leaders of the two Unions during their protest to the Government House Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State Governor senator Atiku Bagudu who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Mustapha, said that the government is fully aware of their demands, assuring them of its commitment towards bringing sanity into the judiciary.
“I’m going to deliver the message to His Excellence anytime he returned back to the State. He has an official engagement outside the state, so for that something good will be done” he said.
Delivering their remarks, the State Chairman, of JUSUN Comrade Umar Bawa and his NBA counterpart, recalled that President Muhammad Buhari had assented to the fourth Alterations Bill in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended in June, 2018 which granted a financial autonomy to all state House of Assemblies and Judiciary, subsequently signed the executive order 10 to ensure its implementation.
They, therefore urged the State government to consider their pledge by implementing the Federal Government directive on financial autonomy as prescribed in the constitution.
