Three (3) students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi FUAM were at the weekend kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Catherine Anene told newsmen yesterday in her office at the Police Headquarters said they received information from the school authority on 24th April, 2021 that some unknown persons came into the school premises and kidnapped three (3) students studying close to the lecture theater.
She said they have deployed their team who are working physically and technically to ensure the release of the abducted students.
“I urge members of the public to remain calm as we are doing our best to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
“I appeal to parents of the students not to be tense but remain calm as we will do everything to ensure the release of their children.
Vice Chancellor of the institution Prof. Richard Kimbir who spoke to Journalists on phone, said unconfirmed number of students were kidnapped from the school at the weekend, adding ‘but we are sure of two(2)’.
According to him, ‘the University management is meeting to appraisal the situation. It is after the meeting that we will be able to asceratin the figure. The kidnappers have made contact with us”.
