Court remands minor over rape of toddler

Date:

A Gusau magistrates’ court yesterday ordered a 15-year-old boy to be remanded in a remand home for allegedly raping a three year-old girl. The accused is a resident of Unguwar Dallatu, in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Daniel Longwal, told the court that one Aminu Umar of Unguwar Dallatu, Gusau, reported the case at Central Police Station, Gusau on April 3.

Longwal said that the complainant reported that the girl was playing in front of his house when the suspect, a servant in the house, took the girl to a corner and raped her.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
