Department of Chemical Engineering in Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria is training some trainees from Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, zeolite catalyst technology development.
The Petroleum Trust Development Fund Chairman Prof. Baba J. El-Yakubu, disclosed this when he introduced the first batch of three trainees to the management of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria yesterday.
According to him, the training will lead to MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering under the PTDF-Chair Laboratory at the University.
Prof. Baba J. El-Yakubu explained that the training followed a special request to the Department from Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company.
Specifically, he said, the request was to train six members of their zeolite research team on petroleum refinery zeolite catalyst technology development with respect to the Company’s residue fluid catalytic cracking unit (rFCCU).
“This is an important development for both ABU and PTDF. After the training, the candidates will form a pioneering zeolite research team at the Company towards making Nigeria self-sufficient in the area of FCCU catalyst production. “
