Club uses football tournament to campaign against vices

A group, Golden Friends Club, has organised a football tournament to campaign against social vices in the country.
Speaking yesterday during the opening ceremony of the football tournament, at New Nyanya, Karu Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, president of the club, Mr. Timothy Afanga said the tournament was aimed at urging youths in the country to shun social vices.
Afanga, expressed worry over rampant cases of cultism and other criminal activities in the state.
He attributed the vices to idleness, urging other members of the society to invest in transforming youths across the country.
“An idle man is alway a willing heart to be exploited by those who derive joy in promoting violence. This is actually a challenging moment for all of us in the country. We need to come together and create a better place for the younger ones.”
He said the group which is made up of 40 people from all parts of the country, is focused on promoting unity in the country.
Afanga, added that the group is also working in other areas to help orphans and vulnerable children in the area.
“We are not only focused on football. We are working in communities to reach out to orphans and vulnerable children. Wherever we look, there are people looking for help. Based on these, our club is always reaching out to those in dire need.”
