The Managing Director of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), George Moghalu, has said he will lead ten other aspirants to submit a petition at the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters against the primary election conducted by the Governor Dapo Abiodun led panel in Awka on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Senator Andy Uba as the party’s candidate in the November 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, having gathered a total of 230,201 votes to defeat thirteen other aspirants during the party primaries held and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Saturday night.
However, Moghalu, who spoke on behalf of the aspirants, most of whom had called for the postponement of the election, claimed non availability of materials and primary committee at his pulling units and others in all the local governments.
Before the aspirants called for postponement of the primary on Saturday, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, had called for the rescheduling of the primary.
Ngige also alleged that there was unavailability of materials and absence of the primary election committee in his ward.
Other aspirants and stakeholders who spoke on the condition of anonymity have also alleged irregularities in the primary.
APC which has not cancelled primary election results returned by its panels, did not cancel that of the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu in his first tenure and that of the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, as both were said to have been shrouded in irregularities.
Meanwhile, a statement issued yesterday by the party, said the party has accepted the outcome of the exercise.
