From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and 2019 gubernatorial candidate in Zamfara State, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has publicly declared his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of formal exit of Governor Bello Matawalle from the PDP to APC today (Tuesday).
Shinkafi, who made the declaration during a meeting with hundreds of APGA members and the party leaders from the 14 local government areas of Zamfara state yesterday in Gusau the state capital, explained reasons that informed his decision to renounced his membership with APGA.
The APGA chieftain informed that, the APC national caretaker and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, will formerly receive prominent politicians including himself, Governor Bello Matawalle, former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, former Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan Ali (rtd).
“It is worth to note that, I have chosen to dump APGA for APC simply because to acquire enough time to pay my contributions towards fighting the lingering insecurity and abject poverty among the good people in the state.
“I have been in APGA for good nineteen years until when I was elected as the National Secretary, and I lived cordially with all in the party, I was not neither dismissed nor expelled, but I found it necessary to respond to an invitation by Governor Matawalle who requested for my contributions towards ending banditry in the state.
“And for the defection to APC, I was requested for by same Governor Matawalle who was also requested by President Muhammadu Buhari too, I have to dance to the tune for understanding that my contributions would help to turn Zamfara a crime-free State.
“I was convinced that the aim of Governor Matawalle was to also free Zamfara State from abject poverty amongst other problems hindering development of the state, his blueprint had actually reflected my party’s manifestos”, Shinkafi has explained.
Speaking of behalf of all the 14 APGA Chairmen of the state, the party Chairman of Gusau, Alhaji Yusha’u Mada, assured the party chieftain of their support for the his defection, adding that, “We are assuring you that, all the leaders alongside thousands of party followers, would remain loyal to any political decision you have taken”, Mada has stressed.
