A High court sitting in Yola,Adamawa state has convicted a 40 year old man, Bangos Adamu to death by hanging for killing his wife and step son.
Delivering her judgment on the case on Monday,Justice Fatimah Tafida pronounced that based on the evidences tendered by the prosecution and confessional statements of the convict ,Bango Adamu was found guilty and therefore sentenced to death by hanging.
Tafida adduced that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt on the two count charges against the convict hence should be hung by the neck until he dies.
Earlier, the convict, who hails from Janjiba village in Gombi local government in the state confessed to the court that he murdered his late wife, Regina Bangos and her 7-year old child, Revelation James due to disagreement.
He stated that any time they have misunderstanding between them,she always threaten to go back to her first husband while her son was supporting her.
According to him, the gruesome act occurred on the 15th June, 2021, when a misunderstanding happened between them over dinner meal, which she refused to cook for the family rather demanded for bread to take tea .
He added that it was on the midnight of that very day while they were sleeping,he woke up and butchered her and the kid to death using sharp axe and cutlass.
Our correspondent reports that both the defence and prosecuting counsels,F.A Ogbe and A.A Babakano expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the court.
