A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwammanda has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is right to sack the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono because he performed poorly.
Kwammanda, who is a staunch supporter of Buhari, also called on the President to sack Minister of Defence, Major-General Salihi Magashi (rtd.)
Buhari had in 21st August, 2019 announced the appointment of Nanono and Magashi, both from Kano state, as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Defence respectively.
However, the president on Wednesday made a shocking announcement of sacking Nanono and Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman at the Federal Executive Council meeting.
Addressing newsmen in Kano on Friday, Kwammanda said the president has vindicated him because from the onset, he had opposed the appointment of both Nanono and Magashi as they lack the wherewithal to deliver in their respective ministries.
According to Kwammanda, he still wondered which criteria Mr Buhari followed in appointing the duo, calling on the president to immediately set up a committee to investigate Mr Nanono.
The APC chieftain also called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC to investigate Nanono and punish him if he is found with some sharp practices when he was the minister.
“I don’t know which criteria Buhari followed to appoint Nanono and Magashi. I know this people would fail. I saw this sack coming. Buhari has vindicated me because I said it from the day he appointed them that they are going to fail because of their bad attitudes,” Kwammanda said.
On his call to sack Magashi, Kwammanda said the minister has failed to perform his duty in view of the rising security challenges in Nigeria, especially the northern part of the country.
According to him, Buhari is doing his best to check the security challenges of the country, but Mr Magashi as a minister is not performing his task.
