Secretary-General of the African Soccer governing body Veron Omba MoSengo has issued a warning to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the African Cup of Nations that the opening game of the tournament will be elsewhere if they failed to do the needful by November 30th 2021.
The football complained that the work on the exterior of the stadium is yet to be complete and no progress has been since his last visit.
“Regarding the Olembe stadium, know that if everything is not settled by November 30, 2021, the opening match will take place elsewhere.
“The state of progress of the exteriors of the Olembé stadium, the delivery of which is promised for November 30, 2021, seems without progress since my last visit dating from the 22 October,” he said.
In addition to the Olembe stadium, CAF underlines other concerns at the level of the Bangou site, where the lawn of the training stadium would be impractical and the work unfinished. She also expresses concerns about the COVID protocol, Marketing and intellectual property, stadium management, volunteer management, customs procedures, etc.
