FMARD, Delta Lawmaker provide food to constituents

Bold steps to cushion the hard effects of hunger were on Tuesday taken by the Federal ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in partnership with the Senator representating Delta North Senatorial Districts at the upper Chamber, Senator Peter Nwoabushi to provide over 200,000 yam seedlings, bags of maize, among others to Farmers in the areas.

Senator Peter Nwaobushi who spoke to Journalists in Asaba through his aide, Mr Henry mordi said that the provision of the food items, was geared towards building capacity in food production for Deltans adding that the exercise would be a continuous one as the distribution of the farm inputs was part of presidency’s committment towards boosting food production in Nigeria and in line with the United Nations SDG goals and global practice.

He disclosed that several oriented projects such as the construction of roads, classroom blocks, clinic, drilling of boreholes, installation of solar powered streets lights among others were his electioneering promises, disclosing that he was Committed to serving the people with the provision of the basics amenities for their comfort

While calling for a robust synergy between the farmers and the ministry of Agriculture to ensure that the goal was achived, the State Director, Federal Department of Agriculture, Mr John Onovroke however commended Senator Peter Nwaobushi for his selfless and relentless efforts to promote economic prosperity and self reliance of women and youths in the society and called on the beneficiaries to put the items to proper use and see the guesture as an opportunity to archive an enviable level of prosperity

He commended the lawmaker for the empowerment initiatives, saying that Senator Peter Nwaobushi remain the symbol of good empowerment initiatives at the upper Chambers of the Senate as the ceremony attracted thounsands of Deltans apart from the beneficiaries who took to the dancing floor to celebrate the distinguished Senator Peter Nwaobushi, a one time Delta State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP)
