Bandits demand N5m to free pregnant woman, as scores whisked away along Birnin Gwari – Kaduna highway

Bandits  who raided Gbagyi Villa in  Chikun Local Government Area on 10th  January, 2022, contacted a relations of a deceased killed during the attack, demanding a ransom of five millions naira to free his pregnant wife.

A source close to the family said the bandits asked that their demands be taken with utmost importance.

A professional colleague of the late Gambo said they are in confusion on the next action to take.

It will be recalled that, bandits  on  motorbikes, each carrying a rider and 2 others, attacked the Gbagyi Villa on Monday night, a community on the way to Kaduna Refinery, killing late Gambo and kidnapping  his wife, children and many others.

Meanwhile, another gang of bandits  yesterday abducted unspecified numbers of traders travelling to Kano from Birnin Gwari Local Government of Kaduna State.

A driver who witnessed the incident told newsmen that the gunmen blocked the highway between Birnin Gwari and Kaduna at Unguwar Yako forest where they abducted the traders.

The source said the abducted persons were among dozens of travellers going from Birnin Gwari and neighbouring communities in Niger State to Kano on routine business trips.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson in Kaduna, Mohammed Jalige, when contacted promised to call back.
