Fire kill infant in Benue

A fire incident in Makurdi, Benue State capital city has claimed the life of three (3) months old child.

The incident happened in a suburb called Awe Street at 10 am on Monday.

Mother of the baby girl, Amilda Abdul narrated that on that day, she bathed her baby, dressed her up very well and then admired her beauty.

“I said to her, you look so beautiful today and went and kept her in my neighbor’s room. I usually leave her there whenever I am going to my Islamic school.

“Few minutes later, I heard that there was fire outbreak around our area but never imagined that it was in our compound. I hurried home just to discover that the fire had gutted the neighbor’s room and when I inquired about my baby, I was told she slept off and could not be removed because of the intensity of the fire.

“On the very day of the incident, a little boy in the compound had a dream that the whole place went up in flame. He had even requested for money to be given to him to buy kolanut and do ablution but no one took him seriously until it happened”, Amilda said.

It would be recalled that only recently, a fire incident claimed the lives of three (3) children of a tutor of Jesus College, Otukpo.
