The Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has directed  the Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Obinna Francis Ogwuegbu to immediately commence the audit of completed and ongoing projects around the Satellite towns.

PeoplesDaily learnt that the directive was in pursuant of the mandate to provide social amenities to satellite towns of the nation’s capital.

To this end, the STDD Coordinator commenced a comprehensive  inspection of all projects under the purview of the Satellite Towns Development  projects across the six area councils, ahead of  a planned  commissioning of projects.

Ogwuegbu, who has visited over 13 of the projects already completed, noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration through the FCT Administration is doing so much in the satellite towns that a lot of people are not aware of.

According to him, the FCT Minister of State has directed him to put all things in place ready for the commissioning of the thirteen completed projects in Abaji,Gwagalada, Bwari, Kuje, Karshi and Kubwa respectively, which are meant to touch the lives of residents of the Satellite Towns and communities in the Six Area Councils.

He added that already STDD staff have been directed  to get in touch the contractors involved in all such projects, in preparation for the festival of commissioning without further delay.

In a related development, Ogwuegbu has expressed concerns over an STDD contractor, popularly known as Messrs Delta Foss Limited, that was purportedly awarded a contact for the construction of KASCE feeder road in Gwagalada area council , a 15km road beside Gwagalada Teaching Hospital, in June 2021, but the contractor has not resumed work up till now, despite the payment of N600,000.000( six hundred million naira).

Frowning at the development, the STDD Coordinator disclosed he had earlier gotten in touch with the contractor upon his resumption of duties, on the need to resume work but the contractor has failed.

However, the Coordinator visited the site, threatened that the contractor should resume work otherwise, appropriate sanctions will be taken against him.
