Newly refurbished Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja is set to host the second leg of the Qatar 2022 playoff between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Black Stars of Ghana in March.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already inspected the stadium and expected that the arena will soon get the green light to host the 2nd leg tie.
The football body have ruled out the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, which has served as the home ground for the Eagles because it could not meet up with CAF requirements and standards.
Nigeria will renew their 71-year-old rivalry with their West African neighbours, Ghana when both battle for a single ticket to the global showpiece in Qatar.
The Super Eagles are seeking to qualify for the World Cup a 7th time and, since 1994, have missed only one of seven editions. The last of three appearances by Ghana was in 2014.
Four-time African champions Ghana will host the first leg with the reverse encounter in Nigeria, both to hold between 24th – 29th March.
