A civil society organisation, under the aegis of ‘Coalition of Civil Society for Transparency in Governance,’ have lauded the performance of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed.

This disclosure was made by the Executive Director of the coalition, Comrade Agbese Philip, who saluted the transparent initiatives of the FCT Minister during the CSO roundtable on Transformation Agenda, held yesterday in Abuja.

The round table, which was organised to x-ray the performance of the Jonathan administration against the various sectors of the economy, scored the Minister high in infrastructural development.

Agbese said the FCT under Bala Mohammed had “initiated projects that will make Abuja a modern metropolitan city and above all, provided basic amenities like roads and housing, which is according to the Millennium Development Goals, (MDGs) stipulations”.

He further noted that with the expansion of the transport system, which is a major issue in the nation’s capital, through the introduction of intercity train system which is already on the way and opening up of new access roads the city will soon be rid of traffic congestions.

While commenting on the security situation in the FCT, the coalition noted that the present administration had put in considerable efforts to combat crime, applauding the CCTV initiative even as they advocated for more installations and proper use of the cameras.

While commending the minister for obeying the court order on the Park and Pay system, the coalition has also called for.

The coalition based its call for the system’s return on the fact that “the city had return to its former motoring chaotic state with drivers parking arbitrarily thereby causing traffic congestions”.
