A Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) known as the Global Disability Inclusion(CBM) has solicited the support of government at all levels to provide support in kind and cash to Persons with Disabilities  in Nigeria.

 Speaking in a Press Conference yesterday in Abuja,the CBM`s Country Director, Ekaete Umoh disclosed her organisation`s readiness  to assist people’s with disabilities adding that CBM works alongside peoples with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to fight poverty and exclusion.

According to Umoh, CBM Global will make itself available to work with the Federal Government to ensure monitoring of government`s intervention programmes for peoples with disabilities stressing that  they intent to apply minimum standard for disability inclusion in all bilateral humanitarian and climate action funding mechanism.

Umoh further maintained that following the outcome of the second Global Disability Summit (GDS), which included capacity-strengthening of organisations of persons with disabilities in the global stage inclusive education, health, employment and livelihoods, and inclusion in situation of crisis, including focus on climate change, CBM will ensure its involvement to achieving the GDS commitment in Nigeria.

`CBM Global is willing and able to collaborate with the government of Nigeria towards achieving the 2022 GDS` commitments align with our strategic objectives as an organisation.

“CBM shall work with government to advocate disability responsive laws and ending of  practices that prevent persons with disabilities from being considered citizens with equal rights and ensuring that their organisations are fully involved in legal issues.

“CBM Global is committed to working with government of Nigeria and the press to develop an inclusive education sector plans, covering from early childhood education through to higher education, including vocational educational skill among others.”
