The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) inaugurated Local Emergency Management Committee in 27 local government council of Jigawa state.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Director general of NEMA Alhaji Mustapha Habibu Ahmad who was represented by Kano terrorial officer Dr Nuruddeen Abdullahi said, Jigawa is among first three states that NEMA inaugurated LEMC.
The DG who described the LEMC as the most crucial in prevention and response to any disaster urged Jigawa government to support the move for a better save of lives and properties in the state.
According to him, the committee could only be successful in its operation if state government collaborate with other donors in building the capacities of the committee.
While making his remarks, the Jigawa state governor Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru who was also represented by his deputy Alhaji Umar Namadi promised maximum support for successful operation of the committee.
