Ghana Vs Nigeria: Why GFA refused to make public Black Stars list

With barely three days to the first leg 2022 World Cups play-off match between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday, the reason behind Ghana FA’s refusal to make public the team list have been disclosed

Ghana is holding the first leg on Friday, Match 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi but the list of players invited by the technical crew have remained out of the public purview.

However, it has been understood that the GFA decided not to reveal the list of invited players so as to confuse Nigeria and block them from knowing their strength and weakness ahead of the crucial match

Black Stars Technical Adviser Chris Hughton arrived the West Africa country on Sunday as the four-time Africa Cup of Nations AFCON champions begin training on Tuesday ahead of the Friday duel.

An executive member member of GFA, Mr. Samuel Anim Addo, has disclosed that the  ruling body doesn’t want the Nigerians to know their team’s strengths and shortcomings.

Speaking in a programme on Citi TV, Addo said,  “Strategically, we must keep our opponents (Super Eagles) confused, they are confused and the time that they will need to regroup and organise themselves to know our strengths will be limited.

“The players who have been selected know they are travelling and are already preparing for the game.

“The most important thing is that you will get Ghanians who are going to die for this country.

The Black Stars are expected to arrive Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday, same day the Super Eagles are likely to arrive for the crucial crucial 

Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen on March 4th released a 32-mam provisional list for the double header with the return leg due in Abuja on Tuesday next week.
