APC chairmanship race: Akume gets more endorsements

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship race gathers steam, the forum of the third republic House of Representatives (APC) members has endorsed the candidature of the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, George Akume.

Its Chairman, Hon. Isa Matori, at a press briefing in Abuja, said they endorsed Akume because he has the power to unite APC and the entire nation, being the former governor, he has that credentials.

He said, “We are supporting him for the simple reasons that he had the capacity, he has the quality to unite APC, not only members of the APC but the entire nation because he is somebody who has a lot of credentials, being a former governor of Benue state during his tenure of eight years.

“What we need is somebody that can lead with all sincerity of purpose to make sure that we succeed. After all, in any contest, you either win or you lose. So we have to believe that leadership is ordained by  Almighty God. And we are praying fervently to make sure that God ordained George Akume.

“As you all know, this George Akume has already indicated his interest to lead APC and as a matter of fact, we are some of the people who encouraged him, advised me to be part of the history of rejuvenating APC to face the challenges of the 2023 election.

“He said during his time as a Governor, we all witnessed nothing but peace and progress in the Benue States and that happens because of his qualities of being somebody who is a leader that listens to his followers, a leader that takes advice from his followers and a leader who prepared his subordinates for all kinds of challenges.

“I’m sure if we elect senator, Gorge Akume, at the end of the day, we’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel because somebody who has no sentiments of any kind. He doesn’t care what you already are, he doesn’t care what your tribe is, what he cares about, is you as a person as a human being. and as a Nigerian.”

According to him, Akume is a very honest and committed party man, dedicated party man was ready to sacrifice not only his wealth, even his life, for the progress and development of APC, in particular as a party and Nigeria as a whole and the way we look at it.
