The Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II has raised concern over elimination of history as a standalone subject in schools, warning that “those who do not know their past are doomed to relieve it”.

The traditional ruler made the assertion when he received Presidential aspirant of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and governor of River State, Nyesom Wike at his palace in Benin City, Edo State.

According to him, “What seems to be worrisome now is that our children are not taught their own language in schools” and deliver digital literacy in the area of discipline.

Oba Ewuare II also said, “They (governments) have even stopped teaching History. How do we know our past…Those who do not know their past are doomed to relieve it.
