The Kano state Hisbah Board has disclosed conclusion of plans to deploy it personnel to various mosques within the city to protect mosque-goers against hoodlums, during Tahajjud in this last 20 days of Ramadan.

Tahajjud is a late night special prayer performed by Muslims in congregation in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.

The Commander General of the Hisbah board, Harun Sani Ibn-Sina disclosed the development at his office on Thursday, according to statement by Lawan Ibrahim Fagge, Public Relations Officer of the command.

He all necessary arrangements were concluded to contain the menace of phones snatchers and other social vices, which might occur at the designate and central mosques during the Tahajjud prayer across the city.

Fagge said the CG explained that based on the experience of what happened last year, the board would not check reoccurrence by posting its personnel to guard the mosques and the worshippers against thugs activities during the night prayer.

He said the Commander General call on the mosque-goers to feel free to go and perform their spiritual exercise, adding that “the board will not relent on its primary responsibilities of encouraging Muslims to do good and avoid the bad and evil.

The statement said the CG also warned youths, both male and female not to dare engage in courtship behaviour at mosques during the night prayer, saying that whoever is found wanting would be dealt with.

He also urged the residents to report any suspecious movement of groups or individuals to nearest security offices.

The PPRO added that “the CG then advised Muslims to judiciously utilized the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, and prayed assiduously for the bounties of the month, and include our dear state and country for the sustaince of peace and protection of life and property, as well as fruitful democracy”.
