A national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who is also a 2023 presidential aspirant on platform of the party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has said he can only accept defeat, congratulate and go home to mobilise support for the winner if he lost the primaries of the party in a free and fair contest.

Speaking when he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms to the party at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja, Tinubu, who was represented by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, said he is a democrat who believes that there are only two possibilities in every electoral contest.

“He is a democrat, every politician should not be afraid of elections because the probabilities are two; either you win or lose. So, if we don’t win at the convention, we will go back home, we will leak our wounds and prepare to support the winner if he wins in a free and fair manner”, Tinubu said.

He also said the Tinubu camp is hundred percent prepared for the APC primaries, adding “There are no challenges, we are politicians. We have been in this game for many years. Whatever challenges there are, we will convert them to opportunities”.

The Lagos former Governor said the resignation of some Ministers to join the contest is not a threat, explaining that the more the merrier. He said as democrats, they believe that even if there are one million contestants on the platform of the party, they will win the majority of the delegates at the convention.

“We feel elated that today we have come to submit the winning form and we have complied with one of the major requirements of the party for contesting for presidency on the platform of APC. We have done all that is required. We have submitted all the documents that are required. As you can see we have received our acknowledgement copy and we are confident that victory will be ours on 30th May during the convention”, he said.
