The distribution of grants to the 2nd batch of FCT FADAMA CARES beneficiaries by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, in Gwagwalada Area Council, was hijacker’s by hoodlums who took away the grants after the minster had disbursed the it to 517 vulnerable people across the six Area Councils.

It was observed that the hoodlums hijacked the disbursement of the grants to the beneficiaries due to lack of proper arrangement by the officials of FADAMA III Project/FCT FADAMA CARES.

Peoples Daily gathered that the miscreants who stole the grants were nabbed by the men of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and other security agencies.

However, during the incident, the Community Development and Gender officer in charge of FCT FADAMA CARES Program, Mr. Husseini Iliyasu screened the beneficiaries after going out from the gate of the Area Council to avoid diversion of the grants.

Reacting to the development, the Commander of VGN in Gwagwalada Command, Mallam Abdullmalik Danu, disclosed that about one hundred goats were recovered from the hoodlums by the men of VGN.

Danu also revealed that about two hundred bags of rice and other grants were received from the thieves, urging the FCT FADAMA CARES to avoid symbolic disbursement of grants to the beneficiaries in the nearby future.
