RATTAWU demands proof of GO TV operational licence from NBC

Date:

The Radio Television Theater and Arts Workers Union RATTAWU wants the National Broadcasting Commission to clear the air on GO TV if it is licenced to operate as the second national carrier of broadcasting company in Nigeria.

Speaking at a press briefing over the weekend, the president of the union Mr.YemisiBomgbose stated that, reports milling around clearly shows that GO TV or its promoters was not licenced to operate as

digital terrestrial television in the country, but has been operating freely on a digital arena and also spreading it branches in the country without due process.

He said that the way and manner the television promotes its activities and wooing customers with gift is shocking which indicates that it was up for something else. He calls on NBC as a matter of urgency to checkmate the activities of the television station with the view of knowing their mode of operation with proofs that the television station was properly licenced to operate as broadcast company.

Bomgbose also gave the federal government up till May 9th to review all television operators licenced in the country or face an indefinite action, according to him, this became necessary because of the influx of most television stations springing up without proper checks, he said the way most television stations are operating is an indication that they are operating illegally.
