ASUU in Kebbi varsity warn of imminent local strike action

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero Branch has warned the State Government to urgently address their internal request in order to avert another local strike action in the university.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the chairman and the Secretary of the Union, Dr. Yale Ibrahim and Dr. Good Abubakar after the Union meeting on the resumption of the academic activities yesterday at Aliero.

The statement said that the decision was to bring sanity to the academic activities and ensure that they have smooth lecture sessions.

Dr. Yale pointed out that the state government should implement their annual salary increments and other necessary needs that were demanded for.

“You see the union hope that the state Government and the university governing Council will consider this opening so as to adequately address the lingering issues in the branch to avert Local further action” he said.

The statement also quoted the state government, Ministry of High Education, governing council and parents for being patient throughout the national strike action.

He then assured them that the lectures will commence fully while the lecturers are fully ready to support and carry out their normal academic activities.
