Lorry crushes two Jigawa NYSC members

Two Batch “C” Corps members serving in Jigawa, on Monday died in an auto crash involving a truck and motorcycle in Dutse, the state capital.

The state Commandant of FRSC, Mr. Amin Umar, told newsmen in Dutse that the accident occurred along G9 Quarters Road, at about 10.00a.m.

Umar said the accident occurred when the three corps members, who were said to be riding on a motorcycle, fell on the road and the truck coming behind ran over and crushed them.

He explained that two of the corps members, Mustafa Sufi and Muktar Abubakar died on the spot while Haruna Abubakar, who survived with injuries, was taken to Rasheedi Shekoni Specialists Hospital for medical attention.

Reacting, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NYSC in the state, Mr. Obemeata Alex said that the corps members were on their way to the Federal University Dutse (FUD), which was their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) for their monthly clearance when the incident occurred.

Alex said that Mustafa Sufi, who read Accounting and Finance in East London University, was from Kano, Muktar Abubakar, who read Business Administration in Cafe Briton University, was also from Kano.

He added that Haruna Ahmad, who survived the accident, read Human Resource from New Castle University and was from Yobe.

According to him, the remains of the two corps members were taken to their parents in Kano for burial while the survivor was still in hospital receiving treatment.
