OCCEN moves to strengthen CSOs engagement with public institutions

A non governmental organization popularly known as Organization for Community and Civic Engagement (OCCEN) with support from European Union (AU), organized a one day policy dialogue on strengthening civil society engagement with public institution in Kano State.

This was contained in a statement signed by the executive Director of OCCEN Mr Abdulrazaq Alqali and made available to news men.

According to the statement, the purpose of the dialogue was to strengthen partnership of public institutions with civil society organizations that would help public institutions to achieve greater results and contacts through collaboration.

The dialogue will also help the parties to strengthen the existing mechanism of participation and co-ordination.

The statement added that, the dialogue will also bring together civil society leaders and government officials in charge of planning and research from selected ministries and agencies, to discuss the best possible ways to improve consultation and participation of CSOs in public policy decision in Kano.

Some of the MDAs and CSOs present during the dialogue include Director DPRS, Ministry of planning and budget, Director Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Women Affairs, State Universal Basic Education Board, Youth and Environmental Development Association (YEDA).

Others are Adolescent Health and Information Project (AHIP)Centre for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA)Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF)Fiscal Discipline and Development Advocacy Centre (FIDAC)The Support for women and Teenage Children (SWATCH)Network for Empowerment and Development Initiative (NEDIN)

The remaining are Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA)ILSCHMASociety for Women Development and Empowerment of Nigeria (SWODEN)Ministry of Youth and Sport Development (MYSD)Kano State Ministry of Health (KSMOH).
