Abducted girls: Turai Yar’adua calls for prayer

Former first lady, Hajiya Turai Umar ‘Yar’adua has called on Nigerians to intensify prayer for the safe release of over 200 girls abducted from Chibok government secondary school in Borno state.

Turai, who made the call at a memorial lecture organised for her late husband, President Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua, added: “All Nigerians need to intensify prayers to make sure these girls returned to their families safely”.

The former first lady thanked the organisers of the memorial lecture in honour of their husband for keeping his legacies of education, peace, security and development alive.

Delivering a paper on the late president’s legacy on education, former executive secretary of National Universities Commission, Professor Munzali Jibrin delved extensively into the late president legacies in education.

Professor Jibrin noted that late president ‘Yar’adua had during his time gave special attention to education from primary, tertiary and university level priority, disclosing how the late president transform primary education in Katsina state.

He similarly cited the Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua University, Katsina as one of the legacies of the late president, where he said the university was fast competing with its peers all over the country.

In his remarks, the state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema, who was represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Lawal Aliyu Daura noted that the Shema’s administration has kept the late president’s vision for the state alive.
