The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has organized a two days health training programme for its staff.
The Health Training Programme is organized by the Human Resource Management Department Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in Abuja with the Theme :” Healthy Living: Panacea for Greater Productivity in the Work Place.”
The health training is targeted for the staff wellbeing that will boost their service delivery, productivity and innovation.
Declaring the two days training open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bashir Alkali said that, organizations that doesn’t invest in their staff wellbeing could be loosing their top talents and skills.
“A healthy workforce and a sense of wellbeing increases productivity and innovation”.
Alkali represented by the Director Human Resource Management FMWH, Aliyu Abudulahi noted that the Ministry deemed it necessary to organize this training for it’s staff.
He said “ the mind-set of officers must be positive and for that to happen, officers need to be healthy to deliver.
He said “If the mind and body are not together, we keep getting negative reports. A healthy work force is a productive work force.”
The Perm Sec also called on the officers to take care of themselves and observe all the necessary health tips and protective measures for their good and that of the general public. Health is utmost in our agenda, health is very important to us all,” he said.
The training identified three major issues that officers must always look out for, namely: early signs which he said promote wellbeing and these can become apparent in a number of different ways, and could include psychological symptoms, such as mood changes, indecision,confusion.
Others are behavioral symptoms which can include withdrawal from office life, irritability, and uncharacteristic errors, and even physical symptoms, such as fatigue and appetite changes.
The two days had five paper presentation from various speakers , ranging from Overcoming Hypertension – The Silent Killer,Tackling Typhoid and Malaria all by Ado Theophilius.
Other presentation are managing Diabetes and Cholesterol : What you need to know, and Stress Management in the Work Place delivered by Dr. Ojo Eyituoyo.
