Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on science and technology, Hon. Beni Lar has commended the minister of foreign affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama and his state counterpart, Amb Zubairu Dada for the timely intervention in the release of Dinchi Lar, a Nigerian prisoner in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Dinchi Lar is an indigene of Plateau state.
Lar, who represents Langtang north/south Federal constituency of Plateau state disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
She also extended her gratitude to the Nigerian Mission in the UAE for their doggedness and the use of diplomatic channels in resolving all issues that led to the imprisonment of the detainee.
Lar also advised all other citizens of the Nigerian state wishing to travel abroad for greener pastures to endeavour to study and understand the laws of such countries before embarking on the trips.
The lawmaker who has been in the House since 2007 said she will not leave the PDP despite the crisis rocking the party.
Lar, who was recently honoured with the award of most outstanding female lawmaker by the House of Representatives Press Corps said that she was “Very excited to be nominated and awarded the best female lawmaker of the year by the the parliamentary correspondents”.
She said that she received the award “With a great deal of excitement” adding that it will spur her to do more for her constituency and for the advancement of democracy”.
