Resident Electoral Commissioner in Gombe state, Prof. Istifanus Dafwan, stated this yesterday in Gombe while distributing permanent voters cards to electorates at Ambmar hall.

He said the distribution will take effect between 8am and 4pm daily at the polling unit where electorates registered in 2011.

According to him, the exercise will take place from 23rd to 25th May 2014 with a view to presenting voters cards to electorates who are willing to vote in the forth coming general elections.

He advised the electorates to present their temporary voters cards to the distribution officer at their polling unit for exchange with the permanent voters cards, adding that they would be required to thump print and sign the distribution register.

He emphasized that no one is mandated to collect voters cards by proxy, noting that every electorate is mandated to collect his permanent voters cards at the INEC LGA office.

The Resident Commissioner also said only permanent voters cards will be used during the 2015 elections due to introduction of cards readers for accreditation, stressing that those whose names are not on the electronic voters register can go and register at their respective registration area or collation centres.
