UPN urges members to be committed to nation building

Date:

The National Secretary, Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Alhaji Abubakar Sokoto yesterday urged members of the party to contribute courageously toward national development.

Sokoto made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja.

He enjoined them to face the future with hope, courage and determination in their quest to take over leadership in upcoming elections at all levels.

“Now that our party is registered by INEC, we have to take charge and fill the gap created by the ruling parties at all levels of government.

“Our party’s ideology can conveniently fill the vacuum for the benefit of all Nigerians, hence the need for us to be hopeful, courageous and determined to serve the nation on this platform,’’ he said.

The scribe, however, said: “For us to achieve this, we need to have strong party structures on the ground at the ward, local government, state and national levels.”

He assured members that the party would establish functional offices in all the states of the federation.

On the party’s readiness to contest in coming polls this year, Sokoto said “congresses will soon be conducted across the nation to organise primaries for members interested in contesting elections this year and beyond”.

According to him, the party will be funded through monthly dues and contributions from registered members and UPN friends across the world.
