Benue State Primary Health Care Board has called for reawakening and increased sensitization in the fight against COVID-19.
This is just as the response in the State has continued to nose dive.
State Health Educator, Benue State Primary Health Care Board Mr. Emmanuel Beeka who said this at a one day sensitization and enlargement meetings with unions, CSOs, CBOs and NGOs on impact creation for COVID- 19 Vaccination in Makurdi on Monday.
He stressed on the need to involve all stakeholders in disseminating information about the vaccine for sporadic response from the people.
He noted that as at August 2022, more than 257 million cases were reported with 5.4 million deaths recorded worldwide.
He urged the groups to develop new strategies in their own ways in increasing sensitization and mobilizing the rural dwellers for vaccination.
Hear him, “2320 persons have been confirmed positive in Benue State. Hence, the need to put more energy for immunization as well as demand creation in vaccination.
“It is difficult storing the vaccine under the temperature in this clime. At the initial stage we had 83 vaccination sites and now, there are 420 sites in the State. We have 252 teams moving from one community to another ensuring that a minimum of 60 persons are vaccinated on a daily basis. However, availability of resources have remained the limitation to achieving our target of 70% coverage”, Beeka said.
