Gunmen kill elected Councillor in Niger Community

An elected councillor Saleh Alawa has been killed by unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits in Shiroro local government area of Niger state.

It was gathered that the councillor was on his way to his village Alawa when they ran into them around Zumba road where he was murdered, although his personal assistant escaped the attack.

However, youths in their numbers in search of the criminals out of anger apprehended an informant at Gwada town and handed him over to the police for more investigation and prosecution.

Sources said that the youths in the area are frustrated over the inccessant attacks and killing of innocent people.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar has confirmed the incident, saying that efforts is ongoing to apprehend the criminals in no distant time.
