Ortom frowns at CBN new redesigned notes circulation, deadline

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has frowned at the new policy on the new currency by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Governor stated this during a courtesy call on him by the Pro-Chancellor, Joseph Saarwuan Tarka University, formerly known as University of Agriculture, Makurdi UAM Hon. Edith Chidinma Uwajumogu and management staff on Wednesday.

Ortom fumed at the poor circulation of the new notes for transactions especially in markets and the rural areas.

He urged the Presidency and the Apex bank to  look at the policy critically so as not to throw the people into further distress.

The Central Bank had last year redesigned the 1000,500 and 200 naira notes and issued a deadline of January 31st,2023 for the old notes to be deposited in the bank.
