Presidential Polls: Ortom vows to sacrifice Senatorial ambition for Obi

Date:

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has vowed to sacrifice his senatoriaI ambition to ensure the victory of Labor Party candidate Peter Obi as President of Nigeria in this Saturday 25th February, 2023 Presidential polls.
Ortom last week rounded up his Senatorial campaigns in the seven local government areas that constituted Benue North West District.
The local governments include, Guma,Makurdi, Gboko, Tarka, Buruku, Gwer West and Gwer.
He also organized a town hall meeting where he publicly declared support for Obi’s presidency.
Speaking when the Igbo community in the State visited him at Government House, Makurdi on Monday, Ortom said though he has campaigned vigorously and the electorates have accepted to vote for him, he will not hesitate to sacrifice his Senatorial ambition for Peter Obi to win the Presidency.
According to him, “what matters now is not about PDP, APC or SDP but it is about Nigeria. Peter Obi is a specie that is not bonded by ethnicity. When I hear some prominent Igbo personalities berating him for contesting the Presidential election, I wonder. Is it not you Igbos that say you have been marginalized since after the civil war? An opportunity has come today and you are still complaining, what do you want?
“The whole country North, South and West say it is Peter Obi and you say you do not want him. Those people saying that should be outcast. I was praying and one of my spiritual fathers told me something, he said Obi will win the election. He added that God does not want Obi to be Ibo president, he wants him to be Nigeria’s President”.
