Niger state police command has deployed no fewer than 6,505 personnel to ensure the 2023 general elections is free, fair and without disorderliness across the 25 local government areas of the state.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 9, Isaac Akinmoyede said this while addressing media in Minna, saying the Police will also be working alongside three thousand, three hundred and fifty eight agencies excluding the Military and Department of State Service (DSS).
He warned that the Police will not tolerate thuggery or any form of disorderliness prior to or during and after the elections. Adding that, “the government wants the elections to be free, fair, credible and that is what we (the Police) will do”.
He further disclosed that, the Police has discovered flashed Local Government Areas in the State to include Munya, Rafi, Shiroro, Paikoro, Gurara and Mariga.
He hinted that the Police and other Security agencies will remain professional in discharging their duties, the security and safety of INEC workers, Journalists and other staffers who are on essential duty will be guaranteed.
