A delegate to the on-going National Conference, Alhaji Buba Galadima, yesterday carried out a one-man protest at the National Judicial Institute venue of the conference, for the Federal Government’s quick intervention in the release of the abducted school girls
The former spokesman of the Congress for progressive Change (CPC) carried a two-sentence plague card that pleaded with the authority to bring the 234 secondary school girls, who abducted in Chibok, by members of the insurgent group- Boko Haram.
The placard had an inscription that read:”Bring back our daughters; “President Jonathan stop shifting the blame. The buck stops at on your table”.
According to the politician, the Federal Government has trivialised the grave situation by shifting blame and acting as if the abduction was staged managed.
“They are engaging in blame games, saying ‘look you should not blame us but the Governor of Borno state’. The governor should know where the girls are. The president forgot that Borno, Adamawa and Yobe are under state of emerging and that the security of the lives of every citizen in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria are under him and not the governor.
“The security of lives and property of the people are on his shoulders because he is the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The Inspector General of Police and the Director of State Security Service are directly answerable to him and not to the Governor of Borno state.”
Further, Galadima claimed that the lackadaisical attitude of the federal government towards putting an end to the insurgency in the North-East only goes to buttress the fact that only lame efforts are committed into ending the scourge.
He said even if this would mean President Jonathan, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, leading the military campaign to the Sambisa forest in Borno state, it would demonstrate his commitment to the protection of lives and property of all Nigerians.
He said, as a parent he was concerned about the welfare and safety of the abducted girls and in particular the increasing insecurity in the country.
