The All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue State chapter has said it can not fold its arms and watch the Ortom-led PDP in Benue State sustain the short-changing of Benue people and destroying the state.
The party in a statement at the weekend signed by its Publicity Secretary Dan Morgan Ihomun, alleged fraudulent award of contracts and back-dating of same.
This is just as the party also, asked the outgoing Ortom administration to come clean on the issue.
“How can a government that has failed to build a Cargo Airport in Benue State after two attempts in almost 8 years suddenly award contract to build a Civil Airport in the remaining two months of the lifespan of such administration?
“Why will a government which has not been able to pay salaries and pensions, suddenly in the twilight of its administration suddenly begin the ill promotion/appointment of selected people and illegal recruitment of more people into the service?
“What has the Ortom administration done with the huge resource that have accrued to Benue State from the federation account?
“Benue State is heavily in debt without corresponding development, why does the Ortom-led PDP government still want to take more loans and overdrafts? What have they done with the already borrowed monies?
“What is the number of the Civil Servants on the Benue State payroll and how much is the salary wage bill of the State?
The APC maintained that the governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, is a free citizen of Nigeria and has the right under the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended) to advise government and its agencies.
